Ensuring corrosion protection for a 30,000 km sea voyage to New Zealand

Helaform’s logistics is more than just moving goods – it is a promise of quality and uncompromising expertise. Every shipment is a matter of pride for us, whether the destination is next door or on the other side of the world. Our warehouse ensures that products arrive as agreed, intact, and in pristine condition, even when the transit time is measured in weeks.

Long-distance shipping is a true endurance test for packaging. Using specialized methods, we ensure our products withstand the most challenging conditions, such as a 50-day sea voyage to New Zealand. On such a route, shipping containers are constantly exposed to salty sea air and extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity while crossing the equator. Without proper protection, moisture condenses on metal surfaces, creating an extremely high risk of corrosion.

A prime example of this is our recent delivery to the other side of the globe. The shipment included over 3,000 meters of sliding tracks, where no compromises were made in the packaging process. Our logistics team planned the protection step by step:

Cleaning and Preparation

Thorough cleaning of the surfaces ensures that no impurities are trapped under the protective layers.

Protection

We utilized a multi-stage method, including high-efficiency desiccant bags and specialized Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) film, which forms an invisible protective layer on the metal surface.

Durability

After being tightly wrapped in packaging film, the track bundles were placed in custom-made, heavy-duty wooden crates. these crates protect the products from impacts and stress during port handling and rough seas.

The result was clear to the customer: thanks to our thorough work, the products arrived just as shiny as they were when they left our warehouse. This is part of Helaform’s comprehensive service – we want to ensure our customers can trust our quality from order to installation, regardless of the distance.
