What are bottom guides and what is their purpose?

Top-hung sliding door systems must always be equipped with a bottom guide. The purpose of a bottom guide is to guide the sliding door along the track and to improve the usability and safety of the door. It also prevents the door from twisting when used: without a bottom guide, the hangers of the sliding door may be exposed to excessive lateral stress that can damage the sliding track system. This may affect the movement of the sliding door and reduce its service life significantly. In general, one bottom guide per sliding door is enough, but, in some cases, two bottom guides are fixed to the floor and the door slides between them.

Note! The purpose of a bottom guide is only to direct the movement of the door, not to support the door or prevent heavy lateral load such as collisions/impacts or wind load.
