This reference site is a little different from our other sites, as more than 15 years have passed since its completion. However, we wanted to highlight it because the sliding doors are still working well despite the exceptionally active use. In the Latokartano sports hall in Helsinki, the doors are used by school groups, sports clubs and private users in different sports, so they are opened and closed many times a day. Even though there are signs of use on the doors, Helaform’s sliding track system still slides the doors smoothly, and no much maintenance has been required.

This property has steel frame and wood veneer sliding doors with locking option. There are five doors in total, four of which can be combined into two larger units as needed. This makes it easier to use, because the entire doorway does not need to be opened if the equipments are moved from only one part of the warehouse. The 150 series was used as the track system, which is very versatile and can be modified according to the needs of the site.

In general, sliding doors are an excellent solution in gymnasiums, especially in storage rooms with a large door opening where exercise equipment is stored. Sliding doors enable easy and barrier-free use of the premises, as they take up little space when opened compared to traditional swing doors. This is especially important in spaces where large or difficult-to-transport equipment is moved, such as floor ball boards and goals, trampolines or even various gym mats. In addition, the sliding doors are safe and easy to control: they open and close easily, which reduces the risk of accidents and protects equipment from damage.
