Private home: Talo Bunkkeri, Finland
Beautiful sliding doors with long uniform SAGA sliding track system
Reetta and Juha Laukkanen’s townhouse Talo Bunkkeri was built in the Tuusula housing fair area. Laukkasten’s home is a narrow-frame two-storey detached house. The width of the house was only 6.5 meters, which also strongly influenced how the door choices were made for the narrow spaces of the house. The “bunker-like” downstairs has family bedrooms, sauna facilities and hallways. The staircase leading upstairs brings spectacle to the space, but it also takes up half of the hallway space. So even with limited space, sliding doors were a smart choice to downstairs. They allow the doors to be open even at all times, and still take up no floor space in the hallway, nor are they in the way of anybody.
A particularly fine detail in the home is that the black SAGA track was installed as a single long track line that runs over the doors all the way through the walls. This solution looked great and blended nicely with the other black elements downstairs such as the “bar” wall of the staircase.
All sliding doors are also equipped with Soft close that install discreetly inside the SAGA track. These Soft closes bring a lot comfort to the use of the doors and security so that not even the smallest fingers of the family get caught in the door.
