Sliding door renovation for an outdoor warehouse

A hardware store received a new sliding door for their outdoor warehouse: the 700 kg door now moves smoothly and safely, built to last for years.

The project involved the outdoor warehouse of a well-known hardware store chain in Mikkeli, Finland, where a large sliding door had reached the end of its service life. The old sliding door was in bad shape and unsafe, so they installed a brand new door and sliding track system.

Metforce Oy was responsible for the project’s design, fabrication, and installation. They constructed a door leaf nearly 7 meters wide and 6 meters high using a durable RHS tube frame clad with corrugated sheet metal. The result is a robust, weather-resistant, and long-lasting solution.

Despite weighing nearly 700 kg, the door moves effortlessly thanks to the high-quality Helaform 900 series sliding track system. The K-900 track was secured to the wall using SKS-900 wall brackets. The installation utilized MPS-900 hangers, which allow the door bolts to be attached directly to the hanger fork—a solution that is virtually essential for doors of this magnitude. For bottom guidance, Helaform’s latest AON-14 bottom guide was installed.

The challenging installation was executed according to a precise plan using Hiab truck cranes and man-lifts. As a result, the customer received a fully functional and safe sliding door that will serve the warehouse for years to come.
